The Parent Trainer's Journey How We Got Here

The Parent Trainer's Journey: How We Got Here

Every great product starts with a real problem. Anytime Soccer Training was not created in a boardroom by executives who saw a market opportunity. It was born from the lived experience of parents who loved soccer, loved their kids, and could not find a solution that actually worked for developing young players at home.

This is the full story of how Anytime Soccer Training came to be, and I am sharing it because I think it is important for you to know that the people behind this platform understand your world. We are soccer parents. We have sat on the sideline in the rain. We have driven hours to tournaments. We have felt the frustration of watching our kids struggle and not knowing how to help. We are you.

The Problem That Started Everything

The journey started with a simple observation that many soccer parents have made: team training alone was not enough to develop the individual skills our kids needed. We were paying for travel soccer, attending every practice and game, and yet our children's technical development was plateauing.

We watched other kids who seemed to be pulling ahead and asked ourselves what they were doing differently. The answer, almost always, was extra training at home. The kids who were developing fastest were the ones whose parents were working with them individually outside of team practice.

But there was a catch. Most of us did not have soccer backgrounds. We could not demonstrate proper technique for ball mastery, dribbling moves, or first touch exercises. We wanted to help our kids train at home, but we did not know how. And the resources available at the time were not solving the problem.

YouTube had millions of soccer training videos, but they were fragmented, inconsistent in quality, and lacked any kind of progression or curriculum. It was like trying to learn a language from random vocabulary words rather than a structured course. You could find a video of a drill, but you had no idea if it was the right drill for your child's age, if it was being taught correctly, or what should come next.

Private coaching was an option, but it was expensive and limited. Paying forty to sixty dollars per hour for a private coach was not sustainable for most families, and even if you could afford it, weekly sessions did not provide enough repetition to develop skills effectively. Daily practice was what was needed, and no private coach was available for daily sessions at an affordable price.

The Vision: A Coach in Your Pocket

The vision for Anytime Soccer Training emerged from this gap. What if there was a way to bring professional soccer coaching into every home, every day, at an affordable price? What if a child could follow along with a real coach on screen and get a high-quality training session without their parent needing to demonstrate or teach anything?

The concept was simple: create a library of follow-along training sessions, led by professional coaches, designed specifically for young players, organized into structured programs with clear progression. A child could press play and get a complete training session. A parent could sit on the side and cheer. No soccer expertise required.

But the execution had to be right. The sessions needed to be engaging enough that kids would actually want to do them. They needed to be the right length, not so long that kids lost focus, not so short that they did not produce real development. The coaching needed to be excellent: proper technique, clear instruction, the right level of energy and encouragement. And the programs needed to be structured with proper progression, building skills systematically over time.

Building Something That Actually Works

The development process was driven by testing with real families. Every session was designed, tested with actual kids, refined based on feedback, and tested again. If a drill did not hold a child's attention, it was redesigned. If the pacing was off, it was adjusted. If the instructions were confusing, they were clarified.

Several key principles emerged from this testing process that now define the Anytime Soccer Training approach:

Follow-along format: Kids follow the coach in real time, doing the exercises simultaneously rather than watching first and then attempting. This keeps them engaged and provides a natural pacing guide. They can see exactly what the movement should look like while they are performing it.

Session length of ten to twenty minutes: Through extensive testing, it was determined that this range is the sweet spot for youth players. Long enough to produce real development but short enough to maintain focus and enthusiasm. Most kids can sustain concentrated effort for this duration without burnout.

Progressive difficulty: Programs are designed with a clear arc from beginner to advanced. Skills build on each other logically, so a child who follows a program from start to finish develops a comprehensive skill set without gaps. There is no guesswork about what to practice next.

Both feet from the start: Every exercise is performed with both the right and left foot from the very beginning. This ensures that two-footed development is built into the DNA of the training rather than being an afterthought.

Fun and encouraging energy: The coaches bring genuine energy and positivity to every session. They celebrate effort, encourage perseverance, and make training feel like a positive experience. Kids should finish a session feeling accomplished, not defeated.

The Families Who Shaped Us

The early adopters of Anytime Soccer Training were families just like ours: parents who wanted to help their kids develop but needed a tool to make it possible. Their stories shaped the platform in profound ways.

There was the single mom who worked two jobs and could not afford private coaching but was determined to give her son every opportunity. She told us that having a structured program her son could follow independently gave him the training he needed without adding to her already overwhelming schedule.

There was the military family that moved every two years. Their daughter changed teams constantly and team training was never consistent. Home training with Anytime Soccer Training became the one constant in her soccer development, and it gave her a foundation that transferred to every new team she joined.

There was the dad in a rural area where the nearest soccer club was forty-five minutes away. His kids could only attend team practice twice a week, but they trained at home every day using the platform. When they showed up to practice, they were consistently among the best on the team despite getting less team training than anyone else.

These stories reinforced our conviction that home training is the great equalizer in youth soccer. You do not need to live in a soccer hotbed, have deep pockets, or have a soccer background to develop a skilled young player. You need a ball, a small space, and a good program to follow. That is what we set out to provide, and that is what drives us every day.

How the Platform Has Evolved

Since those early days, the platform has grown and evolved based on the needs of our community. Ball mastery programs were the starting point, but the library has expanded to cover first touch, dribbling, moves and turns, shooting, weak foot development, and more.

Challenge modes were added to give kids something to compete against. Progress tracking was implemented so families could see development over time. Programs were created for different age groups and skill levels so that a five-year-old beginner and a twelve-year-old intermediate player could both find sessions at the right level for them.

Throughout all of this growth, the core mission has remained the same: make it possible for any child, anywhere, to develop their soccer skills at home with professional-quality coaching. No barriers. No excuses. Just a ball and the desire to get better.

What We Believe

Our beliefs as a platform reflect the beliefs of the parent community we serve:

  • Every child can improve. Talent is overrated. Consistent practice is what creates skill, and every child has the capacity for consistent practice.
  • Home training is the great equalizer. It does not matter where you live, how much money you have, or what your soccer background is. Fifteen minutes of daily practice at home levels the playing field.
  • Parents are the most important coach. Not because they need to teach technique, but because they create the environment, the motivation, and the support system that makes development possible.
  • Fun is non-negotiable. If training is not enjoyable, it is not sustainable. And if it is not sustainable, it does not work. Every session should leave a child wanting to come back for more.
  • Consistency beats everything. A short daily session beats a long weekly one. A structured program beats random drills. Showing up every day beats occasional bursts of intense effort.

Where We Are Going

The journey is far from over. We continue to develop new programs, respond to community feedback, and find ways to make home training more effective and accessible. Our goal is to be the daily training partner for every young soccer player in the world, a coach in their pocket that helps them fall in love with the ball and develop the skills to play the beautiful game with confidence and joy.

If you are reading this and you have not tried Anytime Soccer Training yet, I invite you to start. Not because we need more subscribers, but because I genuinely believe it can make a difference for your child. It made a difference for ours, and it has made a difference for thousands of families around the world.

We started this journey as soccer parents who wanted to help our kids. We are still soccer parents, and we still want to help yours. That is the story, and it is the truth behind everything we do.
